McClellan welcomes violin maker

The McClellan Joint Powers Authority (JPA) approved the sale of three 1936-vintage brick buildings in the warehouse district to Howard Core Co., one of the world's largest violin-makers and wholesalers. The company with it's 35 employees is currently operating at the site of a former parochial school in downtown Anniston. The move to McClellan will more than double the company's floor-space to about 60,000 square feet.

For McClellan, the addition of Howard Core is a perfect fit into the artistic aspirations for the area. With the opening of a Howard Core showroom highlighting its voilins, violas, cellos and basses, the continuation of the Music at McClellan concert series, the creation of a summer home for the Alabama Symphony Orchestra, and the increased involvement of the Jacksonville State University Music Department, it is hoped that other arts will be drawn to the unique setting that is McClellan.
