A New Church: Grace Fellowship to Worship at McClellan
“We are pleased to welcome Grace Fellowship to McClellan,” said JPA Board Chairman Pappy Dunn. “The need for worship is important in any community and the addition of Grace is just one more way we are filling the needs of our residents.” The church contains many young families, and is closely partnered with a student ministry at Jacksonville State University. They have been involved in the community and other ministries as well. “We feel that we have many common goals with the McClellan JPA, Anniston and Calhoun County as a whole,” said Carlton Weathers, Pastor. He continued, “This new central location will make our fellowship more accessible to more of the county, especially upon completion of the Eastern Parkway.” As staffing and budgets allow, Pastor Weathers plans to have the facility open for worship, study, prayer, counseling, or outdoor activities. He says “We are an open fellowship, and welcome anyone’s attendance, desiring to love them and have them learn more about the historic Biblical Christian faith.” Weathers continued, “Many regular attendees and visitors are not members, and we will continue to welcome others as such.” Pastor Weathers is excited about renovating and restoring the former Centurion Chapel and believes that is has tremendous potential to be both a beautiful cultural and historic landmark that serves practical purposes for ministry. They will focus on the Chapel first, but also they intend to eventually convert the former ‘Self Help’ Building behind it to a fellowship hall and educational space. The existing tennis courts, basketball court and other recreational areas will also be assets for the congregation. The open lawn and park area in front of the Chapel will be maintained in its natural state and should serve as a place for picnics and family outings. Since progress depends upon costs that are unknown and funding not received yet, the actual schedule for Grace Fellowship moving to the facility is still uncertain. But they hope to at least start using the chapel early in 2007. For more information contact Paster Weathers at weathers@gracefellowshipcc.org or visit their website at www.gracefellowshipcc.org |
