industrial land use plan

McClellan is one of the few large industrial sites available in the Southeast. With its large land area, McClellan is particularly well suited to manufacturing and warehousing uses. Plenty of room is available for parking, truck maneuvering, and buffer areas for security purposes or eventual plant expansion. The proposed on-site industrial park has been subdivided into sites having up to five acres, sites having 5 to 10 acres, sites having 10 to 30 acres, and sites having 30 to 350 acres to be responsive to the marketplace.

Recommended Target Industries
In acknowledgement of these economic strengths and in broad based agreement with the JPA economic development plan, promotion resources should be directed toward the following major types of industries:

  • Automotive
  • Medical Technology Research
  • Printing and Publishing
  • Homeland Security Services
  • Distribution and Storage
  • Micro Processing
  • Telecommunication Services
  • Control and Electrical Equipment
  • Advanced Technological Incubator Start-ups
  • Food Processing and Beverages

Companies providing these products and services in the future at McClellan can serve the firms employing 2.3 million people and the jurisdictions housing five million people located in the six metropolitan areas within 120 miles of Anniston. Each of these target industries is growing and is represented in the region's economy.
